Inktober 2017, Day 2!

Inktober 2017, Day 2: Human!Twitch
6x9 technical pen and colored pencil on smooth bristol paper

Human!Twitch is fun to draw. Disgusting, but fun. Pose and quote directly inspired by a scene from AKIRA (the film; said scene is absent from the manga).

Twitch is usually a huge tomcat, and a sadomasochistic cannibal.

INKtober 2014, Day 6!

Day 6: Hunter's Delight

5x7 brush and ink on Stonehenge paper

Twitch is a secondary antagonist in Brainsick. When I created his character in 2001, he was the leader of a gang of alleycats. His current incarnation is far more unsettling.

Another straight ink piece, and a chance to play with lighting (something I need to study and practice more). I used an X-Acto knife to lighten the sky and define the shadowed side of Twitch's face.

Sketchbook_Brain Drain 16 Pages 13 - 26!

Music is one of my favorite 'prompts' for drawing. The following were all drawn while listening to my Brainsick inspiration playlist on random; songs and / or artists are listed below each image. I usually try to make a drawing per song, but some I create over the course of a few or several songs.

All drawn on August 28.

"Maps of Reality" by Assemblage 23
 Assemblage 23; Front 242; Goldfrapp; Massive Attack;
Zeigeist; Massive Attack

 "Intruder" by Peter Gabriel
"The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning" by The Smashing Pumpkins

 "Intruder Alert" by Combichrist
"The Runaway" by UNKLE

"Terrible Lie" by NIN

"Province" by TV On The Radio

"Entropy" by VNV Nation

"You'll Find A Way" by Santogold (Santigold)
"Dirty Laundry" by Don Henley

"Chrome" by VNV Nation

"DLZ" by TV On The Radio

 "Dark" by Gary Numan
"And Then..." by Depeche Mode
"Surrounded or Spiraling" by Silversun Pickups
"Nothing At All" by Rob Dougan

 "Echo" by Haujobb
"The Answer" by UNKLE
"Loud" by Front 242

"Use You" by Dave Gahan
"Thru These Architect's Eyes" by David Bowie

"Fallen Stars" by UNKLE
"Spin Spin Sugar" by Sneaker Pimps
"Concrete Walls" by Fever Ray
"The Sun & The Rainfall" by Depeche Mode

One of these days I'll return to figure drawing. I need to do it again REALLY badly!

Sketchbook_Brain Drain 11 Pages 58 - 73!

Drawn to "Synesthesia" by Porcupine Tree.
Twitch, one of Brainsick's antagonists.
He is cannibalistic and sadomasochistic.
Above, left: a rough sketch of Rant based off an earlier sketch.
Above, right: an adapted sketch using marker paper over the original (not pictured).

Dane, a harlequin Great Dane.
He is bigoted, standoffish, and stubborn, but ultimately a good guy.
Trochilidae Oddballs, 2005
New Trochilidae oddballs!
Vixec (FEE'kess), one of my hummingbird-hound critters.
Vixec revamped. Fun pose! I should animate this guy...

Giraffes and "Girummingbirds" or "Trochiliraffes."

2005 and 2006 Girummingbirds.

The Clawguard are vicious villains from Tad Williams's Tailchaser's Song.
I first read the book my junior year of high school, and it's one of my favorite fantasy novels.

Dremmenenthreareh (dare you to pronounce it!), your run-of-the-mill demon hybrid.
She is Ezthlitofett's adopted daughter.

Ezthlitofett has been with me since seventh grade.
Above left sketch is from 2004.

"Equino Mystiquea," crazy name for a spontaneous set of drawings (both from 2004).

Equino Mystiquea sketched anew.
Anatomy still needs tinkering, but I think it's quite an improvement.

Facing pages featuring Paranoid, The Black Mass, Lily, Ginger, Vex, Char, and Celeste.

Above left: an abstract kitty from 1993.
Above right: a quick reimagining I want to take to a finish on nicer paper.

Above left: more critter from 1993, and some of my favorite bits of nostalgia.
Above right: updated versions - this is one of my favorite current sketch pages!

Improvement from last year: BRAINSICK scene!

^ My cats often looked like dogs without reference; thus Twitch's atrocious anatomy. Big Head's isn't all that much better.

^ That's more like it! I practiced drawing a lot of cats (to make studies of Lily) for Senior Studio II; their anatomy as differentiated from dogs' has stuck in my head.

Twitch is a creepy bastard, and a cannibal to boot.
